Who's that?

This project gets our best title yet: So Many Dynamos. So Many Dynamos honors OMCA staff past and present. The project includes video portraits of a few of our colleagues, Polaroids of staff of bygone days, and this charming group photo by Drew Johnson, circa 1995. We recognize a few faces, but help us out. Rollover the image to see the ghost silhouettes and numbers, and click "Add new comment" to identify people. Send us the stories, too! We'll post complete caption info as soon as we piece it together.

Re: Who's that?

#15 is Phil Mumma, who is one of the most knowledgable people about California art, history, and science ever!
#58 is indeed Dorothy Hood, a person with an interesting history and mother of some very accomplished daughters.
#71 is Ken Trapp, a pioneer in his work on California Arts and Crafts and author of a book on that subject.
#69 is Rob Brown, a very talented and too humble graphic designer.
#22 is former Chief Curator of Art, Phil Linhares, a man of many talents and the least pretentious person you could meet.
#42 is Greg Johnson, a former security guard who also played in the NFL with the Miami Dolphins.
#40 is Arthur Monroe, a very accomplished painter and community activist, whose lunch partners defined the term diversity in every sense.
#5 is Ethel Noel, a hard working custodian and the queen of the bbq grill, who had the best going away party ever!

Re: Who's that?

OK, I am #48. But let me tell you about #12, Gianna Capecci. Gianna was a registrar in the art department, and she taught registration in the JFK Museum Studies program. She was a wonderful caring woman who left the Oakland Museum to work at the Schulz Museum in Santa Rosa. We lost Gianna to ovarian cancer in February of 2009. She is sorely missed.

Re: Who's that?

Barbara (Henry) admitted that #47 is in fact her.

Re: Who's that?

#8 is Karen Nelson
#33 is John Burke
#43 looks like Drew Johnson
#58 looks like Dorothy Hood
#59 might be Tom Frye?

Re: Who's that?

Okay, I'll name one. Harvey Jones, number 55. He retired four years ago and I was hired to fill his spot. I've seen him occasionally and he's contributed to the art gallery reinstallation even after leaving. Apparently, his expertise was 19th century landscape painting which I found curious since I also understood that he started out as an artist. Did I get that right? In any case, where he ended up was not where he started.

Re: Who's that?

Nr 29 is Kathy Borgogno
