Day With(out) Art

To commemorate World AIDS Day and Day With(out) Art, OMCA will screen Untitled, a new film by contemporary artists Jim Hodges, Carlos Marques da Cruz, and Encke King. The film will be on view all day in the Media Space of the Gallery of California Art, beginning every hour on the hour and included with Museum admission.

Untitled is an artist video that reflects on an era when political protest and personal existence converged. The film documents the struggles that precipitated a generation of AIDS and queer activism through non-linear storytelling, using footage from mainstream network news, activist movements, contemporary art, and popular entertainment. Untitled is about individuals who bravely defy regimes of power and about the ethics of care.

Untitled will screen at over forty venues around the country on December 1. The video is distributed by Visual AIDS in New York City; see here for a complete list of participating institutions.
