This website documents the work of the Oakland Standard. The Oakland Standard was an experiment in how museums might reach new audiences and demonstrate their public value in the 21st century. The project was launched February 2011 and concluded July 2012. The Oakland Standard's best practices were incorporated into core functions of the Oakland Museum of California. The Oakland Standard was generously funded by the James Irvine Foundation.
