Ilisa Barbash & Lucien Castaing-Taylor

Ilisa Barbash and Lucien Castaing‐Taylor are documentary filmmakers whose work includes Made in the USA (1990), about sweatshops and child labor in Los Angeles; In and Out of Africa (1992), about the transnational African art market; and the acclaimed Sweetgrass (2010), about the last sheep drive out of the Absaroka-Beartooth Mountains. Barbash is Curator of Visual Anthropology at Harvard University's Peabody Museum, and Castaing-Taylor is a professor of visual and environmental studies, and of anthropology at Harvard University. Their co-publications include Visualizing Theory (Routledge, 1994), Cross-Cultural Filmmaking (UC Press, 1997), Transcultural Cinema (Princeton, 1998), and The Cinema of Robert Gardner (Berg, 2008).
