The Cheese Board Collective

The Cheese Board Collective is a cornerstone of the California food movement. The Cheese Board began as a small cheese shop in a Berkeley storefront in 1967, and in 1971, became a 100% worker-owned collective. It has since expanded and now includes a pizzeria and bakery. In addition to award-winning foods, the Cheese Board has played a vital role in supporting the development of other worker cooperatives, most notably the Arizmendi Association of Cooperatives, which includes six pizzerias and bakeries in the Bay Area.
