Douglas Long

Douglas Long is chief curator of Natural Sciences at the Oakland Museum of California.  He holds a PhD in Integrative Biology from the University of California Berkeley, where his research focused on sharks. His current fieldwork utilizes data collected through UC Davis's California Roadkill Observation System, through which he and hundreds of other California residents track roadkill incidents in order to measure wildlife populations and reduce the impact of future transportation systems. Before coming to OMCA, Long chaired the Department of Ornithology and Mammalogy at the California Academy of Sciences.
