Amoeba Records is an independent music chain with stores in Berkeley, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. It is frequently cited as one of the largest independent music stores in the world. Since the inception of its Berkeley flagship, in 1990, the store has become a landmark institution in the Bay Area, not only for its immense selection of new and used music of all genres, but for its model of independent business, community involvement, and charitable giving.
